Before the birds leave the nest, they must be able to fly. Learning is about observing and recreating individual gestures of adults. In birds, however, it has been discovered that, apart from the imitation pattern, hidden memory plays a huge role in the process of learning to fly. The previous generations of a given bird species, while learning, coded in the nervous system a kind of „hidden memories”, which, together with the genetic record, were passed on to the next, reducing their effort and time devoted to acquiring one of the key skills.
My son will be leaving home soon. These photos are notes, an intimate record of our „flying lessons”. This is a project, in which I illustrate our emotions, relationships, the process of transformation and look for an answer to the question about family, generational hidden memory.
